52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks

My challenge for 2023 is to write more stories about ancestors. Fortunately, Family Historian and Genealogist Amy Johnson Crow provides the motivation to get this done.

Let’s face it, if left to my own devices I know I will find too many other things to fill my day, and the writing just won’t happen. It isn’t because I don’t want to, it’s just that I’m good at finding easier things to do.

Writing is hard… Right?

The hardest part for me is figuring out what to write; I need signposts to direct me to the ‘what’ so that I can get on with the ‘how’.

Amy Johnson Crow provides the ‘what’ in the form of a weekly challenge to write the story of one ancestor, every week, for a year:

52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks

And so, on the fourth day of 2023, I pick up the challenge and begin my journey with 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks.
