All About Me:

Welcome to my world, situated in the beautiful Tweed River area of New South Wales, on Bundjalung Country, Australia.

Retired teacher – obsessed with Family History.

I started delving into my family’s history in the 1990s when I was teaching in Queensland; a time when teaching took up most of my waking hours.

Fast forward to 2016…

I retired at Easter in 2016 and found more time for research and tracking down ancestors. My Family Tree exploded, but I knew very little about the hundreds, or even thousands of names I added.

There was definitely something missing – until I enrolled in a Diploma of Family History, through the University of Tasmania, in 2021. During the online course, I discovered the value of writing stories to capture the essence of the lives of my ancestors.

The Diploma of Family History, completed in 2022, taught me to focus on individuals, and how to find obscure details seemingly buried long ago.

Sources such as Trove have been invaluable in my search for information. Linking with DNA matches through Ancestry verified information found on other sources.

I apologise for the randomness of the structure of this website, but it follows the path of how I have lived my random life. Hopefully, one day I will work out how to organise the stories into some kind of sequential order, but until then, just click on a heading that sounds interesting, and read on.
